#4 - River Legacy Park
River Legacy Park has been a favorite for years. When I was a student at UT Arlington I would make it up to River Legacy several times throughout the week to walk the trails. There is a 3/4 mile trail that loops around the center of the park. Full of runners, walkers, bike riders, and rollerbladers, this popular trail breezes by open grass areas where you can watch folks playing catch, soccer, flying a kite, or an old favorite of mine, bocce ball! There are a few other trails that branch off from the main loop and wind through the woods and beside the Trinity River. For a more peaceful and scenic experience, the wooded trails are the way to go. In addition to the paved trails, you can also find several biking trails, which are the best to spot the several bobcats that live throughout the park. YES - bobcats! I'm disappointed because I've never seen one (although I have near my apartment - more on this in tomorrow's post). The River Legacy website even has a bobcat blog where people post their pictures from their panther sightings (interesting side note...Fort Worth's nickname, in addition to Cowtown, is Panther City. And what's the mascot of Fort Worth's baseball team?? - The Cats!)
